Sound from Jonathan Smith – OSU Sports Report

Now just a couple days away from Oklahoma State vs. Oregon State to open up the football season in a game that many Big 12 eyes will probably be fixed on with most of the other games involving low FBS and FCS opponents.

Cowboy fans know very little about the teams’ defensive line because of the inexperience and that may be a matchup that Oregon State could try to exploit.

The Beavers’ offensive line averages 6-foot-5 and nearly 315 pounds and they bring a ton of experience along the trenches with three seniors, a redshirt junior and a redshirt sophomore. Coach Jonathan Smith is very positive on that group of guys.

They add more experience if they play their redshirt senior tight end.

All of those guys will be blocking for Jermar Jefferson, who was on the freshman All-American team last year running behind 3 of the guys who are back.

Some disappointing injury news for the top 247 rated recruit this year for the Pokes as according to Bill Haisten of the Tulsa World reported yesterday that Cowboyback Grayson Boomer will miss the season with a knee injury.

Also announced yesterday afternoon, the Big 12 conference announced its players of the week for women’s soccer and the Pokes’ fantastic freshman forward Olyvia Dowell was named the conference’s freshman of the week. She played a part in all 3 goals the Cowgirls scored last Thursday night against Lamar.

The media will get a chance to talk with coach Colin Carmichael and the Cowgirls tonight ahead of tomorrows first Phillips 66 Bedlam match, the non conference variety down in Norman.
